Internal medicine at Lagrange Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland, has admitted the first Ebola patient to the US.
The patient was identified as a 42-year-old Liberian woman who came into contact with the patient on December 19, according to a statement from the hospital.
She is currently undergoing treatment in isolation at the hospital, the hospital said.
The Liberian government said on Monday it would continue providing support to the Liberian people in West Africa as the Ebola crisis continues.
The country has experienced a sharp rise in cases, with more than 2,600 reported so far.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of a global pandemic, with up to one in five people dying in the region.
The outbreak has also prompted the European Union to extend border controls in Europe to prevent migrants from traveling to Africa.
