LAFAYETTE, Ind.

(AP) — A medical center in northwestern Indiana is seeking to use a $100 million grant to pay for more testing to help prevent heart disease.

The state Department of Health said Thursday it is funding a medical facility in Lafayette, Ind., to perform heart and cardiac imaging for people with a heart defect.

The grant will allow the facility to hire 1,400 more workers.

Lafayette Hospital is part of the University of Central Indiana Health System.

The state Department is working to expand that hospital to more than 600 beds.
