A man has been charged with the murder of a three-year-old girl in an alleyway outside a Melbourne hospital, police say.
Police said the child was found dead near the corner of the St Joseph’s hospital in the city’s inner west on Saturday.
The child’s body was discovered in a drain pipe, police said.
“A male was apprehended in the area of the alleyway, with evidence to indicate he was involved in the murder,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
A 22-year old man has also been charged over the murder.
Victoria Police Commissioner Adam Crerar said the accused, a 22-month-old boy, was being interviewed by detectives.
He has been remanded in custody until July 14.
